My name is Danielle Treu. Everyone calls me Danni. I met my husband Brent, in high school in Rockford, IL. He and I began dating when we were 17 and we have been married for 16 years. I went to Baylor University in Waco, TX where I studied Early Childhood Development. Later I became a teacher. My hobbies include decorating, working out, playing and teaching sports, jigsaw puzzles, watching movies with my family, and going on vacations!
My husband and I have 3 kids ages 13, 12, and 9, all of whom were born with a familial genetic disease that caused leukemia. After a long road to recovery, including bone marrow transplants at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, they are now doing great! We thank God every day for our healthy children!
A few years into my kids’ remission, each of them was diagnosed with dyslexia. Trying to find the right educational fit for them has been a challenge for many years. All the career choices I have made have always revolved around what is best for my kids. The next chapter in my career, and in my children’s education, will be opening the Florida branch of The Academy Way Network of Schools.
It is my hope to provide more resources to families who experience the same challenges we do. I consider it an honor and a privilege to be the Founding Executive Director of The Academy Fl and can’t wait to begin working with all of our children.
Our Team at The Academy FL specializes in discovering and cultivating the GREATNESS in extraordinary children with Dyslexia, ADHD, and Non-Traditional Learners in the Port St. Lucie and surrounding areas.
Hi! My name is Colleen Wilson and I am so excited to be a part of The Academy FL and The Academy Virtual. Here in sunny Florida, I enjoy swimming, crafting, reading, and DIY home projects. I have been teaching for over 15 years with a Bachelor's degree in Education from Charter Oak State College and a Master's degree from UWF in Educational Leadership. I have multiple teaching certifications in grades K-12.
I have loved my time at The Academy and believe all children are capable of success. .
I remember the first day of my teaching career. I entered the classroom with excitement and a passion for making a difference in the lives of the students I was about to meet. Thirty years later, I still feel the same excitement and passion for teaching that I felt that first day. I am grateful to be a part of the learning experience not only for my students but for me as well.
During the past thirty years I have taught students from three to eighteen years old, owned my own schools, and continued my education to make me a more effective teacher. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, my Master of Science Degree in Reading, my Certificate in Montessori Education and am excited to complete the University of Florida’s Dyslexia Certification program and the Wilson Reading program.
I believe that each child is a unique learner who needs a safe and loving foundation to achieve his/her ultimate potential. Teaching becomes a tool to provide an environment that fosters creativity, positive self-esteem, real world experience, a sense of fun, and a sense of care, commitment, and belonging.
Finding The Academy FL has been a true gift, and I look forward to being a part of this amazing community.
